Dr Patel has extensive legislative experience. He has testified in the state senate to addressing multiple congressional committees including O/I committee, E/C committees, Health affairs subcommittee amongst other. He has frequented OMB office, and West wing in person to discuss healthcare issues. He played a critical role in working with multiple stakeholders to explain why IPI (International Pricing Index) brought forward by the previous administration may create access to care issues, resulting in shelving of the idea. He has addressed congressional Caucus on Precision Medicine. He is involved in the legislative process from 2006 onwards for over a decade and a half. He is extremely well received and well respected amongst bilateral side of the isle as he always represents access issues for the common Americans

Delivering the promise of precision medicine to patients requires alignment of many economic, financial and drug development incentives to pursue the types of opportunities that will yield the most benefit to patients, Genentech and its shareholders. The recent passage of the Inflation Reduction Act creates peculiar problems and incentives for development of precision medicines and biologics.
